Bodhisattva appears in the sky...

家を出て通り角を曲がってすぐの所に小さなお寺がある。お寺といっても葬儀を専門に行うようなお寺のようで、併設する墓地があり、春にはこのお寺の石庭に植えられている３本のソメイヨシノが見事な桜の花をつける。

ここに引っ越してまだ２年経っていない。今年の春にまた素晴らしい桜の花が見れると思うと待ち遠しい。人混みに溢れる桜の名所に足をわざわざ延ばさなくても、こんな近くに見事な桜の木があるんだ。

There is a small Buddhist temple around the corner after making a turn at the first block from my flat. It is a temple of Soutou Sect, but seems to be just a ceremony building specializing in funerals established together with a cemetery which belongs to it. In Spring, 3 amazing Cherry blossom trees in the garden bloom splendidly.

2 years haven't passed yet since I moved back to this town. I'm really looking forward to seeing these Cherry blossom flowers blooming this coming Spring. I don't dare need to visit famous Cherry blossom viewing spots packed with full of people because I already have an amazing viewing place here in my town. 

ある日、私は徒歩で仕事に向かった。この寺院の前に差し掛かり、瓦屋根越しに空を仰ぎ見た。すると空に一本の柱のような雲が伸びていた。無意識的に携帯電話を撮りだしカメラで撮影をする。一眼レフを持っていたのに、あえてそれで撮らなかった。なぜだろう？

そして、その画像をじっくりと確認すると、何かしら観音菩薩のような姿が浮かびあがってくる。俯き加減のお顔。そして背から腰にかけての曲線。まさしく観音立像のお姿のようだった。年末にご挨拶をしてご無沙汰だった「あびこ観音」の観音様がお呼びになったのか？すかさずご挨拶に向かった。

One day I went to work by walk. When I'm about to pass this temple by, I looked up to the sky over the Japanese ceramic tile roof, and found a cloud like a pillar. And then I grabbed my iPhone and started taking the photos. I didn't use my SLR camera though I had it with me that day. I wonder why...

I looked at the photo closely, and I noticed that the cloud is so resemble to, a Buddhist saint, the Bodhisattva. I see the face looking down, and the curve posture from the upper back to the lower. Really resemble to the Bodhisattva. I just wonder if the Bodhisattva in Abiko Kannon Temple was asking me to pay a visit since I haven't visited there since the end of last year. I immediately went there for greeting. 

死のうと思う日はないが

生きてゆく力がなくなることがある

そんなときお寺を訪ね

わたしはひとり仏陀の前に坐ってくる

力わき明日を思うこころが

出てくるまで坐ってくる

I never wish to die
However I sometime feel about to burn out
When I feel so
 I visit temples and sit in front of the Buddha alone
I keep sitting there
until I start feeling wishing for tomorrow

そのお寺の掲示板に観音様のポスターがある。そのポスターに書かれている言葉だ。確かにそうだ。自分も澄んだ気をもらいに神社に参り、時としてそのご神体に登拝したりする。お寺を参っては、静かな空間と仏像が醸し出す慈しみのエネルギーを頂いている。そこにいることが、どんな場所よりも安全だと感じるからかもしれない。

観音菩薩はいつでも私たちのそばにいて、私たちを見守っていてくれる。その事をこの日は空にその姿を現して教えてくれたのかもしれない。そして、空だけではなく、時として他にも表れることも、私は知っている。

そういえば、「あびこ観音」の観音様をまだカメラで撮っていない。撮影禁止とは書かれていなかった。撮影しても良いなら、撮影してみよう。

There is a builtin board at the entrance, and a poster with an image of Bodhisattva was put up on it. These words were written on the poster. That's true. I visit shrines, and sometimes trek in the holy mountains to get clear energy. And I visit temples to feel a mercy from the Buddhist statues in those peaceful surroundings. That's may be because that I feel safer than any other places.

Bodhisattva is always with us, and keeps an eye on us, and might have tried to show it to me appearing in the sky that day. Not only in the sky, I know that Bodhisattva sometimes appears in other places.
