Femininity or Masculinity...
When I moved in my current flat, I was not planning to cook as much as I did before. And so the kitchen condition was not much concern, and I chose my current room installed with only one stove.
As my life here has become more stable, however, I'm going back to cooking little by little, and day by day. The inconvenience of the kitchen condition is now my concern, but I need to manage it within what I have because I'm not gonna move out for a while, and like this place very much now.
We hear a word ”女子力”(Jyoshiryoku)a lot lately, and my understanding for this word is the level of femininity which includes general stereotype of what ladies are supposed to be as a ideal lady... And cooking is usually considered as one of the important aspects for this ”女子力”(Jyoshiryoku).
One of my female friends ironically or what, teased me of my ”女子力”(Jyoshiryoku) after following my several posts of my cooking in Facebook or Instagram. For me, this is rather ”男子力”(Danshiryoku), the level of masculinity. Of course, I understand that cooking is not categorized at higher for the general aspects of masculinity that men are expected to be as a ideal man, especially in regions and countries where the roles of both sex are traditionally still categorized.
Anyway, It just happen that I am good at cooking, and not bothering me at all. Thank to my family back ground that my father was a Sushi chef, I grew up seeing my parent cooking all the time, I naturally became to start cooking my own dish by myself, and I rather wanted to because of the sense of my independence.
Values are changed and differed as the time and era go by. I believe that the current era is not expecting us to separate the roles of men and female's roles as much as it used to besides our some original physical function's supremacy.
What do you think?
