A lady who loved flowers...
A week after a state of Emergency for several major spots in Japan including Osaka declared, the Osaka prefecture's Governor, Mr. Yoshimura officially requested for a suspension of business to facilities and shops yesterday which are concerned to be a potential cluster for the spread of Chinese Wuhan Virus (COVID-19).
I finished my shift at 9 in the morning yesterday, and immediately cave a call to "Isshinji-Temple to ask if I can visit there to do "写経” (Shakyou) a Heart Sutra writing practice. A lady picked up the phone, and answered,
"So far open today, but not sure about tomorrow... due to the Governor's request."
I was thinking that I would go there the next day tomorrow, but changed my mind.
Departed over the rainbow...
I normally visit there two times a month to practice it for my ancestors, but it was an exceptional this time. It is for a lady who passed away recently.
Departed over the rainbow...
Once I heard the news from her husband, I immediately felt wanted to write it for her. So I asked him what was a Buddhist name, ”戒名”(Kaimyou) given to her.
Her newly given name included "彩" (Color) and "蓮" (Lotus) because she loved flowers very much, her husband explained.
I was the only one in the hall when I got there, and I wrote each word as polite and neat as possible taking more time than usual. After that, the receptionist informed me that the monks held a conference and just decided to close here until May 6 which is the current official last day of the state of Emergency.
"You were in time, weren't you?", she told me.
While conversation with her, I noticed a beautiful weeping Cherry Blossoms through the windows. When I visited there last month, it was still not blooming, and I though that I might miss the chance to see it on time.

In the season of ”蓮” (Hasu/Lotus), we see beautiful flowers blooming in this pond.
