One day in Kyoto...
I was already visiting the tomb of an ancient commander, Hideyoshi TOYOTOMI in Kyoto when I had realized that I left a SD card for my DSLR in my PC. After going up 485 steps to get there, I sighed to my self how stupid I was.
My shift finished at 9 in the morning that day, and took a short nap on my bed until passed noon. When I woke up, I suddenly felt that I would like to visit Hideyoshi's tomb, and it didn't take more than 5 min. to leave my flat grabbing my back and DSLR. However I left the SD card in my PC...
"OK! It is a day today that I don't need to take photos by my DSLR. "
It was my 2nd time to visit the tomb, and my previous time must've been almost in Winter time. I strongly remembered that I was running out of breath going up 485 steps. Though these 485 steps in total is much less than the numbers I normally do in Mt. Miwa and Mt. Inari, I can't feel already tired before going up. And it is actually very tiresome.
When I got to the tomb, a black butterfly welcomed flying around me. And I heard a small wind bell ringing which someone attached on a tree branch. It was really a refreshing sound for me still running out of breath. Also because of a clear sunny weather, I felt that positive joyful atmosphere there. I wondered that it must've been an amazing view with a cherry blossom tree next to the tomb this Spring.
It was already passed 2 in the afternoon when I left there, but I decided to go to Fushimi Inari Shrine and hike in Mt. Inari. I was already ready for the crowds of foreign tourists which numbers are at a peak of the day, and it was actually more than what I expected. The 90 % of the visitors there that day was foreigners, I guessed.
"Where are Japanese?"
I kept hearing various different languages and passing by almost only foreigners. I was just overwhelmed with the situation, but I started soon feeling fun and joyful looking at them having a great time taking photos, posing themselves in front of the famous thousand red shrine gates or else in the shrine.
I briefly read an article about some negative comments in Kyoto tourism referred as a Cultural destruction. It must be currently an issue not only in Kyoto, but in other places in Japan. However the situation in Kyoto might be more emphasized because of its image of Japanese quiet calm life in Harmony.
For me, the positive increase of foreign tourists should be welcomed, and we need to be flexible to the situations preserving our cultural beauty and assets, and sharing proper information of what we respect and practice in general life with them, and ask them for the same while staying.
And have fun together!
It is said that there is one big Inari (Fox) God protecting the shrine and the area with hundreds of lower-ranked Inari servants as we see so many statues of them in Mt. Inari.
It is amusing for me to picture imaginary a scene of the big Inari God trying to soothe the Inari servants who whine the hustles and bustles situation in their sacred sanctuary saying;
”Well well, calm down! Look at their joyful smiles. How adorable! They are bringing a prosperity to this place. We better see it positively getting used to the ways they enjoy life." (Inari God)
"Yes, but... Yes, but..." (Inari Servants)
It was a nice day, and I received a plenty of positive energy.
